We don't have to play by the same rules over and over, throwing the ball through the hoop, whatever, we change routines a lot, which is so much harder then sports like basketball.
We throw 90-140 pound girls in the air and catch them, which i'm pretty sure is harder than throwing a ball weighing 20 ounces. When you are the girl in the air you have to know how to hold your own body weight and sometimes even more if you're helping the girl next to you complete her stunt.
We learn some of the hardest stunts in the world. We get kicked in the face, we fall, we get broken bones, we get hurt and we have to keep going, we don't fall to the ground/scream and cry, we work through the pain to just make our routines perfect.
Also it's practised all around the world in many countries.
A lot of the time there is partner stunting, meaning one person keeping the 140 pound girl in the air..
Cheerleading isn't just a bunch of stuck-up pretty girls who play around with pom pom's on the sidelines of games.
People don't realize in all star or sometimes even high school cheerleading, points are involved. They only see the sideline cheerleaders. Most people can't do what cheerleaders do and cheerleaders make flipping jumping yelling and stunting look easy. We have 2.5 minutes to show what we have worked on all season
Sports are competition based on a unbiased system of scoring.
Get the ball in the endzone = 6 points
Get the ball in the hoop =2-3 points
Any sport where someone's opinion directly correlates to the score, in my book, isn't a sport
Because Cheerleaders usually do their thing when Football/Basketball players are on a break. Football & Basketball are legitimate sports, so it makes people think that this is nothing more than a time out entertainment.
My definition of a sport is anything that involves sweating and competition, so...........
