Too old to start cheer?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
Im 14 and I have NEVER cheered, danced, or done gymnastics before in my life! I play softball but cheer seems like a really fun girly sport to do so id like to start. Is it too late to start and would it be too much to do cheer AND softball?

NO! you are not too old to start cheer just practice doing a lot of things and search on youtube to do them you are never too old to do cheer even if its your last year in highschool

NO! Cheer is so much and I've known PLENTY of girls who started at 14 who had never done it or anything similar. I've also known a lot who came from softball and did really good. The skinny players had muscles to lift up and push up to fly. Then the bigger girls, were so stronger and had such a great grip from batting that they lifted up so much in stunts.. It is great.

I do not think it is too much to do both if you're a very determined, organized person. I've known someone who did travel ball, high school ball, and cheer while in high school. So it all depends on your mentality and support from your parents.

I think you can do cheer whenever in your life. All you do is holler and do flips lol. It may be too much doing 2 things

14 is definitely not to old. That's the normal age, I started Cheerleading at 16! It all depends who you want to cheer for though. If you just wanted to do school cheer or a simple cheer squad outside of school, then you could probably still do softball as well because the two sports are in different seasons. But if you wanted to do all-star then you won't have time for softball! All-star is extremely fun with the traveling and competing. And you make a lot of friends. It's hard work but its exciting. You could do all-star cheer for a while and if you don't like it, go back to softball. But cheer is life changing and makes you more outgoing!
