I am hoping to get a skateboard soon, withing the next month, and I don't have very much experience. I know how to ride longboards, and I had a Wal-Mart brand skateboard once that I later returned the next day. If anyone can give me a list of links to stores or brands of skateboards or something related to skateboards, like cruisers, (As long as tricks can be preformed with them) that are easy for beginners to learn tricks/ basic coasting on. There are plenty of local skate shops that have parts and boards for cheap.

There are also good mall shops like Zumies, but they can be expensive.

You can go onto CCS.com which specializes in all thing skateboard wise.

There really is no "best" skateboard.

It all depends on your style and how you ride.

Deck:

Different skateboards have different size. When i first skated i was at a 7.75 width board.

Then i moved up to an inch as i got more comfortable and my feet grew.

There are shop decks that go cheap for $30

And there are pro deck that can go for $60

As you skate and go through board you'll find out what board company you like to skate.

I personally thing Real Boards are great.

Trucks:

all trucks can be great. I don't really find any difference, but i believe Ventures truck has a 1 year warranty on them. So if your trucks snap in anyway they will replace them.

Wheels:

There are either soft or hard wheels. Big or small wheels.

Again this depend on how you ride.

People who ride vert or the half pipe, seem to prefer soft small wheels, and what i think is best for flat ground, street/park skating is hard wheels. Rictas are one of the popular wheel brands, and they are also my favorite.

Bearings:

To start out the common bearings everybody buys are "Reds Crematic bearings". They are cheap and are good.

There are more expensive bearings but it just depend on what you want and how much you spending limit is.

Grip tape:

Most popular now a days are the Grizzly Grip tape.

Alot of guys have them on their boards.

When i started they didnt have them.

I either used Mob or black magic.

Mob- tears your shoe if your'e not really good.

You can just go to a store and build a board easily, and pick what you like.

I like Plan B boards. The best place to get a good board is a local skate shop. Stuff from big box stores like WalMart is generally terrible.
