I'm a gymnasts and yes I wear a lot of makeup when I compete because along with the competitiveness there is a lot of pressure on your appearance. Have you every seen a dance recital they put on excessive makeup to draw attention from far away seats, its similar for gymnasts they want the attention. So gymnasts wear a lot of makeup because appearance goes hand in hand with gymnastics.
Yes, you are correct. The female gymnasts do appear to wear more than a necessary amount of makeup. This is strange, considering the nature of their sport potentially requiring a good deal of sweating (and sometimes crying).
