mma is not a style its a combination of styles used in a sport, what you learn in mma depends upon the styles of martial arts you are taking. there is no way of telling which styles or techniques you will be learing with out knowing what is taught in your individual gym
kick boxing can be part of your mma training just like any style can be
I do mma... where i train my coach is more of a jiu jitsu guy... he is really good at the ground game trust me
We do kickboxing aswell but we do more grappling then kickboxing
Like some sessions we have done pure jiu jitsu... some lessons we do kickboxing... some lessons are mixed
To answer your question... mma is mixed martial arts... it's in the name
The thing is with grappling... loads and loads of people have been using jiu jitsu now a days in there training cause most of the time (not all the time) the fights end up on the ground
So if this was your 1st session... then like i said... some lessons you might focus on 1 thing... which is good cause the whole lesson will cover one certain thing... so you can improve in that area
So don't stress out to much mate... it's only the start of what is yet to come :)
Oh and i have some advice for you... should do some drills outside the gym if your looking to get the most out of your training... i do animal drills... animal drills are very good for movement when doing jiu jitsu... helps with alot of thing's actually... should try them out :)... plus animal drills require no equipment so it's a great drill to do just by using your body
Good luck mate :)
Yes.
MMA is more than grappling.
MMA typically involves wrestling, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and Muay Thai. It also can involve judo, karate, and other martial arts.
Ask your instructor, but I suspect he tends to concentrate on one skill or one technique per class. And that's OK. Because MMA involves so many different skills, it make sense to focus on a limited number at one time.
Hope that helps.
MMA is a mix of fighting styles so of course it has striking. Do some research before you start taking classes.
MMA is mixed martial arts. It involves grappling, muay thai, boxing, jiu jitsu, etc.
i was just asking because i started mma and i asked if we do punching as well cause we were doing grappling all lesson . and the reason i wanna no is that you cant ground and pound on concrete. so do u think we will move on or will it be like this for ever......... im thinking of doing mma and kick boxing
