I don't know why we have to wear the uniforms we do but we do. Its a dress code just like any other sport. Those Cheer teams that don't compete, than its not a sport. Cheerleading is now on ESPN which makes even more of sport. That's competitive Cheerleading that's on ESPN if you don't believe that its on ESPN look on Varsity.com it will tell you the exact dates when cheerleading HS/College levels will be shown live on ESPN.
We compete against other teams, and we have to conditions, practice, etc. etc. We have the highest rate of injuries against any women's sport as of 2013 Stats. http://www.momsteam.com/health-safety/ch... ( prove here)
What you see on pro-league teams are not cheerleading they are dancers, so go bash dancers about not being a sport. Not cheerleading. Just so you know, the Olympic committee is actually talking about bringing Cheerleading into the Olympics http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Discuss:Will_c... ( note, I said talking about)
Your argument is invalid if you say that Cheerleading isn't a sport b/c men look at us as sex objects. Men look at women in general as sex objects.
Hi! I am an all star cheerleader (competitive) and I believe it is a sport. I have to do so much stretching and conditioning and work very hard. Yes, cheerleaders do act soo glitzy and to be honest tacky, but cheer is a sport. We do lots of advanced tumbling- twisting, flipping, and flying! I am a flyer and I can tell you the amount of strength you need to stay up in the air is incredible - and I have no idea how my bases can hold me up. You try it- it's really difficult! What annoys me is all these cheerleaders ranting about cheer not being a sport. Like just stop making this a huge deal. We all know it's a sport and that's what matters. I think cheer is one of the greatest sports- you get to have so much fun (dancing, doing hair and makeup) but you also work so hard and also get rock solid abs and impressive tumbling passes. I wish cheerleaders would stop getting annoyed about people saying it's not a sport.. it is a sport and if you know it is then who cares what anyone else thinks!
Competitive cheerleading is 100% a sport. There is just as much time, effort, dedication and even money that athletes put into cheer as much as any other sport.
Cheer is a sport. Whether it's Allstar or school. It's a sport. You are still throwing people in the air. Jumping higher then your head. Dancing like nobody's bussiness
I honestly think that competitive cheerleading IS a sport and school cheerleading is NOT a sport. That is my opinion and it is not meant to harm anyone.
This isn't a question and therefore doesn't really deserve to be here... Take your rant elsewhere?
