Am I too fat for track?

I'm 5'7, 190 pounds. I have fat on my body.

I play football, I'm a linebacker. My

linebacker coach is the coach of track. I

think I'm fast to do a 100m but idk. I start

off slow but then I'll gain speed after like 2

seconds

There's an easy way to find out. Just time yourself running the 100m dash. If you can finish under 15 seconds, you may have some potential. That should not, by any means, be your goal. 15 seconds would probably land you last place in pretty much any school district in America, but it is usually where people start out before they've started training as a sprinter. The first time I ran the 100m dash, I finished in 14.15 seconds but my senior year I ran a 10.56, and finished 4th for my district. But if you can't at least run a 15-second 100m dash as you are right now, sprinting probably isn't for you.

Anyone can do sports with my experience track has a lot of running if you think you can handle it go for it if not then I don't think it's best. The races are quick it's the training that's a killer. It depends on whether or not you can handle the training.

i wouldnt suggest doing running events to be honest. Your not my definition of "fat" but i would suggest feild events such as Shot put and discus bigger guys are usually really good at these two events. If i were you i would give these a shot.

Ask your coach. He will know better then on here. I'm 5'5 and my "ideal weight" is suppose to be 180 so you may not need to lose anything.

dude your huge im 6 feet tall and im 14 and i weigh as much as you

i dont think you run very fast.
