First, you don't have to like him personally, but he has won more medals than any olympian in history, more gold medals than any other olympian in history and won 8 gold medals in one olympics (Beijing), which has never been done before or since. Multiple people, from various sports and various countries have given interviews calling him the greatest olympian ever because of these feats. So, yeah, it's kind of a big deal and it's understandable why people keep talking about it, especially the Americans.
Also, the vast majority of swimmers wear headphones on the deck in swimming...it helps to keep them focused and hyped up. He was not even close to being the only one. Unless you know anyone personally, I don't see how you can call them names or pretend that you know how they are in real life.
is amazing, but I can't stand when any athlete, or ANYONE for that matter, brags.Be a little humble. You don't have to toot your horn when you're good, people will see that you're good. But that appears to be such a typical American attitude: I'm the best country in the world, so I'm the best.

Very unintelligent & it seems that he's admitting that's he's "a player" practically, saying that he's glad he doesn't have a girlfriend because he's looking forward to lots of sex. The interview with Costas yesterday was the only thing about Phelps that I cared to watch, especially since I had nothing else to watch at that particular time. I didn't give a crap about watching his swimming races. But damn, Phelps came across tremendously arrogant, referring to himself at least twice as "the greatest Olympian of all time". Give me a break!
I dont really care of Phelps, but I feel bad for other olympians, as they dont get the attention the deserve, because of this guy

YES. I usually have no problem with athletes at all, I'm usually quite happy for them, but I personally don't think Phelps is as wonderful as everyone else lets on.
