I don't know. In my opinion she has a lot more to offer than maroney. She is mediocre on everything but vault, whereas Alicia is solid on vault and beam. I would have chose Alicia over maroney any day if the week.

I was very dissapointed when I heard about this too. I thought she had a legit chance to get on the team and we could see that she performed as good as ever. I was dissapointed when they said the team and she wasn't on it but then I was shocked she wasn't even picked as an alternate.

Nastia brought tears to my eyes! Whenever she fell off the bars and you could almost feel her holding back the tears, and then everyone clapped for the longest time and she waved and smiled... I was crying. I'm kind of dissapointed Alicia didnt have her moment like that so she would know how much everyone appreciates her.

Sometimes gymnasts don't want to be alternates. I remember that in 2000 Vanessa Atler discussed this with her coach (Valeri Liukin) and decided that if she was not named to the team she did not want to be an alternate. The selection committee knew this ahead of time. As to why Alicia was not named to the team - I don't know. I would have chosen her.

but i think a lot of it had to do with her age, shes already been to an olympics.

& there were 8 other girls that were better than her.

but i think she deserved to at least be an alternate.

Why why WHY wasn't Alicia Sacramone put on the team?! She was just about flawless tonight. She totally deserved it! She wasn't even made a substitute gymnast... I am very angry.
