China got a lot more in '08, but that won't happen again. Of course, it won't be long until we know. If the U.S. gets the golds they should in Track & Field and swimming, they definitely have it this year. Here is an awesome list of all the medals that every country and athlete have ever won. I would say team USA will bag most of the golds again but other countries can definitely put up a run for their money on the games.
China has an excellent pre-Olympics preparation so it may be the biggest competitor of the US.
Australia's roster of players is formidable too. Although not much hype has been generated for team Australia, I think it can bag a significant number of gold as well.
