Which one of these should i pursue?

Which would be the best to pursue next Wing Chun, Aikido,Capoeira or Sambo?

I wonder if you have ever heard the phrase jack of all trades, but master of none?

You have been posting in here for a little while now. you have asked a few questions. You say that you have picked up a little of this and a little of that. You claim to be good because of this limited experience. You don't train with a partner you just used a dummy. You try to beat your grandpa, but don't have the skills even though you are so good you still can't beat him. There are other statements that you have made that shows you know very little about martial arts.

If you really want to be good or even great you need to dedicate yourself to it and really lear it and make it a part of who you are. Right now you are only getting bits and pieces and that will never help you become as great as you would like.

In order to build a magnificent skyscraper you must first build a strong foundation. Without the strong foundation the structure will easily turn to rubbish. It won't last.

My suggestion to you it to build the strong foundation before you try to add things to the structure. Find a good instructor and learn, train, improve, and develop. Then you won't have to say how good you are. The legacy that you leave will say how good you are.

Next??? You have not learned or developed what you know now to any real extent yet. You obviously think that you are at a level that you can't possibly be at. That comes from people assessing what their own abilities and knowledge are. Often this leads to what many people do that makes it impossible to master anything. They style hop thinking themselves smart enough to know what and how much of this and that art they should learn. Training in multiple styles is good only if you have a very strong base in training in at least one legitimate style first. In the last few decades I have had many style hopper and armchair martial artist come into my dojo thinking they were going to show me and my students some great martial arts. All have made fools out of themselves. Most leave embarrassed and never return. A few ask to be trained. They all say the same thing... They will say that they will be faithful, train hard, and be my best student. Then they either never come back or come to one or two classes before disappearing as if they had never been there.

Go train with a good instructor and stop trying to decide how good you are or what is best for you to do. That is your instructors job. He has the knowledge and experience to know what you need. You do not. Even thinking that you do is disrespectful it silently says you think you know better than your instructor....

EDIT: Nic, I don't think your skills are bad. You keep saying you are good in what you write about yourself. You are correct, I don't know you. However, I see you make the same kind of statements I've seen other inexperienced people make. I only want you to not go down the wrong path as they have done. Your repeated posts only convince me that you are determined to go in the direction you think best. I am sharing my experience and giving my time to try to help you. If you do not want to hear from people like me that are much more experienced, just say so and I'll never answer your questions again. Either you listen or you don't. Remember you are looking at something that is much bigger than you can imagine. I and others are looking back from beyond what you see. In the end it is your choice to take the advice you asked for or ignore it. Just be honest with yourself and decide if you really want answers, or just want to hear people tell you to do what you already appear to want.

Best of Luck with your training!

...

Sambo would be my choice. while all are good in thier own right. I just prefer Sambo to the others. BUT Capoeira is the sexiest martial art on the planet. As soon as i watch a Capoeira demonstration i am draggin the husband home for some "friendly times".

You pursue the best teacher, not a style. Even if there was a best style which there is not, if the teacher is not good it will not help you. A style does not guarantee good training so you have to do your own homework.

First decide what it is you want to learn. Do you want sports or self defense? The training in either is not the same. Trying to score in a self defense situation is going to get you hurt. Taking out opponents in a tournament will get you penalty points and injured opponents in something that is supposed to be for fun.

Then you need to find a teacher in your area who teaches what you want to learn. If you have specific questions post them but the martial art you learn is for yourself and what you want not what others think you want. Everybody's favorite is what they train in and that is what they will suggest completely disregarding the fact that you will not have the same teacher they do and then even though it may be the same style you might end up with something very different. All martial art can be taught many different ways and for many different reasons.

The next art? Oh, you've already finished learning the other art? Wrong. Pugpaws and KW are not "bashing" you, they're trying to help you. It takes years to even learn the basics of an art. You can't just keep jumping around to multiple styles. You'll never learn anything.

Here's what you should do: Pick one art. Make sure the instructor is good. Train in the one art under that good instructor and stick with it. Do not switch styles. You need to stick with one art to actually get good at it.

What do you want? Grappling or striking? Aikido and Sambo are grappling arts. I would go with Sambo merely because it is very rare (or at least in the states) but you can find aikido almost everywhere. Wing Chun is kind of a more straight forward striking art, while capieora requires more acrobatic skills. Go with the better instructor firat, but for grappling I'd choose Sambo, and for striking I'd go with wing chun.

Capoeria is TOTAL bullshit. Aikido is bullshit, I've trained with guys who have trained in it. Wing Chun is bullshit, and I've trained in it and still train it a little bit for shots and giggles. Go with Sambo! Sambo is a great martial art that you will learn a lot from!
