Do you think cheerleading is a sport?

I want everyone to be honest, but if someone has something you do not like do not get mad. I do not want any rude commits on here, " Like my mom always said if you do not have anything nice to say do not say anything at all." But I want you to explain your answer, I do not want to see "No" OR "yes". Tell me why you do or you don't think it is.

YES! Everybody co siders dance a sport.. at my school dance isn't a sport, it's a club, but cheer is a sport. It takes stunting, tumbling, flexibility, and a lot of pep. You get no break cheering, because during breaks in games, you preform. Practices are really brutal too, and we practice all year around.

I think it is defiantly a sport. If they can class snooker as a sport, then I don't see why cheerleading can't.

It takes a huge amount of strength and physical training to do it, much like many other sports.

It COULD be considerd a sport because it involves physical exertion and team working. Some would say it is a sport because it is competitive but the problem is that there is no objective measure of how it is scored. It is all down to the personal opinion of the judges, based on factors that can't be defined or measured by any objective means. On that basis, a choir contest is a sport and I don't think many people would agree with that.

Playing a sport can be a useful part of a fitness regime. Cheerleading could certainly be part of a fitness regime so, in that way, it has similar qualities to a sport.

On balance, I think I consider cheerleading to be an organised fitness regime with strong artistic elements that is similar to sport in many ways but lacks an objective scoring mechanism .... so not a sport.

It is athletic. Very much so. And in some venues it may involve competition. It is, however, not a sport.

You do need to be athletic and fit but I don't consider it a sport. It's not something that everyone can do. You have to be in the right place at the right time to even get to try out. And you have to be at least semi good to do it. A sport....anyone can do even if they aren't all that good at it. (that's me and golf.....LOVE the game and play a lot but not all that good at it.)

Cheerleading is a sport..in fact it's one of the most dangerous sports.

Cheerleading is definitely a sport. You need flexibility, strength, and skill.
