Should I take martial arts despite this?

My friend is 6 foot and 180 and he isn't fat. He plays basket ball.

I think you are being hard on yourself. Still, do intense cardio and martial arts. You will probably feel like dying your first month or two. Stick with it. And don't worry about loosing weight, you may even gain it because you will gain muscle, which weighs more than fat. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism is, the more fat you burn.

My head sifu is one of the best martial artists I've known. He doesn't look like it because he is pretty heavy (I'd imagine around 300lbs!) but he's also well over 6 feet and has huge bones. He is faster than anyone in our dojo. He reminds me of an older version of Rufus from street fighter:

So even if you didn't loose fat (which you will) you can still be a great martial artist.

Yes if you want to learn a martial art. Don't do it if you think it's going to be a good form of exercise. But if you do want to learn an art it will be fun for you and it will be a good workout and help you get in shape.

Hey i'm going to be joining a kickboxing, jiu-jitsu gym soon and my recommandation for you is to... join!

It will get you in shape if you put the effort forth, hey you never know you could go into tournaments and competitions if you get good enough. One step can open a whole new opportunity.

Yes but whether you are 50 lbs or 190 lbs be prepare to work your as_ off that doesn't change!

6 feet and 190 lbs is good, you are probably young so you have high fat perctenge. Go train ballet

Yes do it. You will build selfesteem and confidence. And you might even lose weight an firm up your body.

Do it! it will get you in shape

I'm fat, I'm embarassed about my fat, I have low self esteem, I'm around 6 foot tall and around 190lb but I have the m(an)boobs of someone 50lb heavier then me, and I'm really self-concious about it, but I'm also really flexible due to me being double jointed, and I have been recommended for wrestling or martial arts, should I do it despite my appearance?
