Yeah they are skating shoes.. Some of the first shoe brands used by skaters in the early days when many other brands were not around..
But like the other dude said many people use them for style now adays..
Also depending on the style , some are more fashion design than actual shoes designed for skateboarding.. Vans offer many diffeent style now adays.. Some are strickly designed for skateboarding .. And others are not. Material has alot to do with it.etc.
Vans are now considered a low budget skateboarding shoe.. Many people still skate them . But with so many other skateboarding shoe brands they are not being used as much for skating purposes.
