Mistakes amateur fighters make?

A lot of times they telegraph their intentions by the way they stand, move, and shift their balance before they start to execute something or as they start to execute it. This makes it easier for someone who is trained and has good experience to see and recognize things, giving them more time to think and react to them as well as counter them if they want to.

A skilled, well trained person won't do this and will instead start almost everything they throw from the same position and stance which masks to some extent what they are going to do as much as possible. Untrained people also pull their hands back usually when they are going to throw a strong right hand and many also really lack the skill and snap to throw a decent jab as well so things often come slower and are easy to see early on.

The first thing they're doing wrong is getting into the fight in the first place.

Injury, death, arrest, career damage, etc can all occur. And most things people "fight" over aren't worth it.

After that, the next thing is thinking a fight is a fair fight. If you look at answers I give over and over, I don't advocate fighting. For SELF DEFENSE I advocate ending things as quickly as possible.

If avoiding confrontation doesn't work, then the goal is to end it as quickly as possible Fighting fair in that case isn't the goal. Now realize that it means one uses the skills they learn in Martial Arts to do that. This can result from simple restraint to full on counter attacks involving eye strikes, knee kicks, etc.

I agree with Tom, but if you feel threatened-get the first shot in and then get the hell out of there as fast as your feet will carry you. Maintain eye contact while striking low, a kick or knee in the groin can sometimes end things quickly. If you are ever in a "fair" fight you are doing something wrong. The point of self-defense is to make it totally unfair for the other guy, and it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

Baiting with hands down.

I dont mean amateur fighters do mma i'm talking about people who have never or barely fought in their lives and are about to get into a fight (street fight) what are some things they all do wrong?

1 think I know is that they always do the same things over and over again so its easy to predict what they are going to do
