You need a good Master to learn these things. It holds very minute technical details which cannot be learned from youtube or home. If this was the case then nobody would have trained at professional level, all would have learnt at home. Beware and dont go with youtube. I train in Traditional Jiu Jitsu and i know the details of small locks. When i teach and see people doing it shows how ineffective it is to forget the small details. Some of my friends tried doing youtube techniques stating they know everything and ended up breaking ribs and ankles. Better join Jiu Jitsu it will teach you a traditional path and art. Krav Maga is nothing but hand techniques taken from Jiu Jitsu.

You should try some jiujitsu techniques with a compliant partner at a slow pace to begin with self defense skill.
Why do you emphasize krav anyway?
Answer me this: Throughout your life is there anything that you have learned on your own? I would say it's practically nothing. Everything from tying your own shoes, to doing the laundry, to math, to driving a car has been instructer to you. Why do you think that martial arts is any different? Trying to learn martial arts at home, on your own is the same as trying to learn how to swim on your living room floor watching a youtube tutorial.
