You are probably breathing incorrectly. When I participated in competitive sports I too would get fatigued by halftime. (This was happening to me at 16) A couple of times I asked the coach to take me out because I couldn't catch my breath. It turned out simply to be the way I was breathing. I also should mention that I got checked for asthma.
Google "how to breath correctly" and try some breathing exercises. The beauty of the exercises are that you can do them while you are at rest (halftime or on the bench. During soccer you can do them when the ball is at the other end of the field) This helped me out a lot. You will find yourself doing them automatically. You may have to get a check up to see if you have a nasal condition.
I also found out that lifting weights helped with my breathing. It wasn't the weight I was lifting that helped, it was simply the way I had to breath to lift more weight.
I had to breath correctly when lifting. That's something else you can check into (How to breath when lifting weights). I felt lifting weights helped me the most with my breathing.
Inhaling when lowering the weight and exhaling when lifting. I found myself doing this even when I wasn't lifting. I would breath as if I was lifting something. If you do this now you will feel your lungs expanding in your chest and the flow of air as you exhale. And if your breath is short when you try it you just have to keep doing it and it will work it self out naturally. But if you are in a big hurry then I suggest going to a doctor that specializes in lungs or some sort of breathing and they will tell you immediately what you need to do. Hope this helps.
