I definitely do eat them but exactly like you they need to be approx 8 inch plus or i don't see the point. I personally do not discriminate when it comes to the species of fish i eat for the most part lol

Yes, they are excellent deep fried. Edit: I scale and filet them off the bones first
I make my own sauce using 1 part yellow mustard, 2 parts Mayonnaise, and 2 parts Ketchup.
My cousins insist that grape jelly and mustard is better but I never tried it.
I have. They're bony as hell but taste great.
