what should i learn Karate or taekwando ?
Visit both schools and see what you like more.
We cannot know what will appeal to you. We do not have direct experience of the schools you are looking into. We cannot give you good advice.
You have to visit a TKD school and a karate school and decide for yourself.
Make sure that whatever school you choose lets you spar with gear within 6 months of you signing up. There are entirely too many karate and Taekwondo schools where you never get to wear gear and spar to see how good a fighter you really are. That's the problem I had with Tracy's Karate in the 1990s. At that time (where I lived) the Tracy's Karate schools taught a strict curriculum of Kenpo Jujitsu and they didn't allow sparring because they said that the material they were teaching was too dangerous, so it could only be used for self defense in a life-or-death situation. Well, after a few months of that B.S., I stopped taking classes there. I knew that all the best fighters got to spar.
So make sure that whatever school you choose offers sparring. Too many Taekwondo and karate schools today are glorified daycare centers for little kids that don't teach any 'real world' effective techniques.

Hey, this depends on your preferences. Taekwondo is more aggressive and competitive originated. There are two types - traditional tkd or competitive tkd. Traditional tkd has heavier emphasis on the patterns and forms. Competitive tkd is sparring, fighting against other opponents. If you're tall and power, you may excel in competitive tkd based on physical bulit. Traditional tkd is more of promoting your belt and learning the art. Karate is more traditional and has many different types. Heavy emphasis on forms but there is sparring also. Mainly on hands and legs and strategies. Tkd is using legs most. If you want practicality, tkd is better for self defense let's say street fights.
Style doesn't matter. Age/height/weight doesn't matter. Find the best school with the best instructors in your area and learn whatever style it is they teach.
Shop around until you find the best school in your area and learn whatever they're teaching.
If you have only these two choices I'd say go with karate
Taekwondo has flashy high kicks mostly which are useless in real life
better to learn karate...i practiced taekwando and it was just practicing with leg,,no hands...But karate uses hands also. It's up to you.
better to watch the movie Fighter In The Wind.Encourages you.
Both are very similar almost no difference. Because both styles are so similar so it really doesn't matter which one you choose.
Go for Taekwondo, it is much more commercialized than karate and Taekwondo is much more advantageous for flexibility and you use your legs much more.
