What is the most effective martial art?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
If you had a ring with a 10th dan at karate, a 10th dan at judo and a 10th dan at aikido who would win the fight?

What im trying to say is what is the most effective in a streetfight?

A belt only covers 2 inches of your asz, you have to cover the rest. IMHO if you mean the very best of those respective disciplines the aikido guy would get his *** beat. It isn't very practical especially with a skilled resisting opponent. It would be a matter of luck on who won out of the judo and karate guy. In one hand that karate guy is so dangerous with his strikes one blow and he will hurt someone but if the judo guy ties him up and takes him down the karate man is screwed.

Street fights aren't against fellow martial artists. Having martial art styles war it out isn't going to determine which are better at street fighting, but rather, which disciple is the better trained in their respective discipline. It's no different than how professional sports team duke it out every year, however there still remains no clear cut undisputed best (that is when you cut out people's emotional investments and self-developed opinions).

The entire purpose of the martial arts is self defense. That's what it originally was. Modern days has people practicing for fitness, hobby, sport, and even just to look cool. The ultimate difference is that certain schools teach for different reasons. A qualified self defense minded teacher is going to teach you self defense.

Styles are nothing more than philosophy; dissecting method and value to profess what feels best for effective results. We all will connect to a style differently, but those we don't connect with aren't bad styles, just a different philosophy than what we see as an effective method. Simple as that.

No matter the style, the guy who brings a pistol and isn't afraid to pull the trigger will beat all 10th dan challengers.

Muay thai for offense Krav Maga for defense.

This is nowhere clOse to a street fight and my money is on judo

Origami.

one that has striking clinching and gound techniques

may I suggest jeet kun do
