In two weeks I have managed to get my splits to a near-perfect level. I have been stretching every day, especially after running/workouts/gymnastics. Warm, loose muscles are easier to stretch than stiff muscles of normal temperature. Pushing yourself a bit more every day also helps A LOT. Don't be afraid to set new boundaries, but don't hurt yourself either. When stretching, try placing a a pillow or magazine under each foot to slide down more. Be very persistent and the you'll have the splits in no time!
Don't force it because you'll injure yourself. Do a general warm up beforehand so your muscles aren't cold and stiff when you try out the splits very gently every day. Go only as far as you can and then stop and hold it for a few seconds while you still feel comfortable. Don't go any further than is comfortable and your muscles won't rebel. Gradually, over a few weeks, your muscles will learn what you are trying to get them to do and they'll stay relaxed as you gradually get lower and lower. If you do it too far and it gets painful, not only will you suffer for it, you won't want to do it again the next day and it'll be a disaster. Very gentle and comfortable training will work out quicker in the long run. Might be a good idea to do some general total body stretching at the same time so you are generally looser all over.
I'm a cheer leader and I find that it helps just to really stretch ur legs a lot 2 times a day and as u do that the easier it is to do a split!!!!:)
try to do some stretching first. check videos on youtube for the tutorial.
