Are you disappointed with the opening ceremony?

@Harry are you stupid? how in the world was the Beijing opening ceremony had nothing to do with China or their history?

Apparently you either didn't watch the ceremony in 2008 or you don't know that those chinese drums, moving printing blocks, zhenghe, chinese opera, confucius chantings, taichi (slow moving kungfu), terracotta soldiers, chinese painting scrolls + calligraphy, female dancers wearing tang dynasty clothing, human formation of the bird's nest, etc. are all from China and part of their people?

I think the london ceremony had nothing on the Beijing ceremony. But we should appreciate the work of the british and recognize the 7 years of effort and preparation. I don't think the london opening ceremony was bad at all. It was disorganized but it was still incredible. The olympic rings and the cauldron thing was pretty cool.

Bottom line is, Britain made a great effort, and please don't attempt to diminish the achievements and hard work of the beijing olympic ceremony by making incredibly stupid statements like "the beijing ceremony had nothing to do with china or their history" and make a fool of yourself.

You are compering apples and oranges. Beijing had little to do with China or even history.

It was big lights and drums.

Britain went for the more theater and more playful look. The Queen and James Bond, Mr bean.

The Green hills and the petals for the fire. Amazing.

It was a look back into our past that most Americans will not understand as you do not know much of the UK.

It was good. Other than the texting and the NHS. It made a point, Giving the kids the flame was a bold step.

The fireworks were great. Muhammad Ali god bless that man.

it was an amazing opening ceremony, full of meaning, full of creativity, a story behind every part of it ( if u r familiar with the British history and culture). much better than beijing...

and there was a big budget allocated, everything was created for the Olympics( in Stratford area, which is the Olympic village) was almost nothing before...all has been made for the Olympics.

I completely agree! After Beijing made such a great ceremony, I thought that London would be even better, but I was wrong. Very disappointed :\

Very disappointed. What has happened to the UK? I was embarrassed for them. It seems they did not plan it for all of us to enjoy. It was geared to a specific mindset and to He** with the rest of us!

I understand what they were trying to do. But they missed it in my opinion. The best part was Mr Bean!

It stinks, glad i have other stuff tivo'd

I am loving it

I personally was, i had such high expectations after Beijing and as technology is rapidly improving I was expecting something spectacular but it didn't deliver for me. Maybe because of the smaller budget?

What are you opinions?
