What are sports that can build confudence?

I'm 14 and I'm very shy. I've always wanted confidence. Are there any good sports that I can boost up my confidence? I know there's karate.

Pretty much any sport can either tear down or bring up your confidence depending on how well you do.

For example, if you tried out for the baseball team and didn't make it, that wouldn't boost your confidence. If you tried out for the track and field team and did make it, it would boost your confidence.

Pick any sport and prepare yourself. Nothing will be easy at first. I wasn't that confident when I first joined crew because I was one of the worst on the team, but then I got better, and my confidence grew. Of course, you don't want your athletic skills to be the main reason for your confidence.

Now, for the individual sport, I'd pick something that's physically demanding, like track and field, rowing, swimming, etc, and NOT something that doesn't require much athletic ability like golf. I say this because even if you're not that good at the sport in the beginning, you can still feel a boost of confidence after completing a rigorous work-out that you had previously thought that you wouldn't have been able to do.

Swimming might be good because you'll be wearing a swimsuit, so you're kinda forced to show your body. Same with rowing because you'll be wearing spandex. Maybe even volleyball.

Good luck :D

MMA is really good for it. You know that if you ever needed to defend yourself or a friend you could with just your body. Also it makes you want to fight left. Most guys start or get into fights to prove that they can win. When you have trained MMA for a while you know that you can win so you have nothing to prove resulting in wanting to fight less.
