To old or tall to start gymnastics?

Im 14, 5'7 and 135lbs ive always wanted to do gymnastics and love doing tricks on the trampoline and am pretty good im no very flexable but can to the basics handstand cartwheel kind of thing. am i too late to start gymnastics? or to tall? i heard you have to be pretty short to do gymnastics

You are not too old or too tall. If you wanted to get to the Olympics or something then you have left it too late but to have fun and learn new skills there is no such thing as too old. Similarly you cannot be too tall. Gymnastics is a bit easier if you are small so taller gymnasts tend not to reach the highest levels of competition but you certainly shouldn't let it stop you. In fact your main disadvantage is probably that by doing tricks on the trampoline you'll likely have acquired some very bad habits in terms of technique which may be hard to break.

You are not too old to start gymnastics my Sister started when she was 15 and is 5'9" and is now 18 and she's a level 9 gymnast. She did put in a lot of work and money into it though. She went for private lessons for every day of the week for two hours and then normal classes for 4 hours a day but Sunday. My sister had done dance though since she was 3 and had all her basic tumbling down and already was flexible and strong so those worked to her advantage. And height does make it a little harder but you can do it, you don't HAVE to be short for gymnastics it just is easier to work with. If you put in a lot of hard work and effort into it I am sure you will get some where in your career as a gymnast. Good Luck!!

That is not true... I am 15 and started gymnastics last year. I was 5' 8" and i was almost 175 pounds. Now I learned how to use a standing backhand spring back tuck. You can do it just believe you can. I hoped I helped and Follow Your dreams...

if you are looking to do it for fun, go right ahead

if you want to be professional I'm afraid its a little too late and things will be harder because of how tall you are

good luck
