man what you do is go to zumiez or a skate shop make sure you tell them you want a blank deck or a cheap *** deck don't spend to much cash yet, they guys there should let you know hwat size board you need. Get Bones wheels this is my advice you can still get whatever Don't get Mob griptape unless u got a **** load of cash for skate shoes, and buy some skate shoes. Your trucks should be independent raw best trucks in skating. get some reds bearings. In total you need to spend no more thatn 120 on your first set up not including your skate shoes. Go to youtube and look up skateboarding trick tips and practice around your home first before you go to a skatepark. Its a skatepark not a play ground!! but skating fun as **** bro its awesome you getting into it here watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLhrN8RVm...
Get a board at a REAL Skateshop not a store that sells skateboards. ask advice there for sizes on wheels, trucks, and your board. To start off just practice riding, turning, and once you've got that down good you can practice ollies, shove its, stalls, and eventually your first kickflip. Just keep practicing and dont give up. getting good wont happen over night you need to practice and once you get the hang of tricks your going to love it for the rest of your life because theres no limit to the tricks you can learn. i am in the us army now but i used to be sponsored when i was younger and i have been skateboarding for 14 years and still go to the skatepark every week to skate the flatbar and bowl and cruise around
At first just learn to ride around, don't worry about tricks. For tips and how to's go youtube and search Braille Skateboarding. Those are hands down the best videos to watch if you're having trouble learning a trick. I also suggest for your first board you get one that's 8 inches wide. It's a pretty standard size and you'll decide whether you like smaller or bigger later as well as shape of the deck blah blah blah. Also i'd suggest you get Thunder Trucks. They are the best, i've learned in my experience. ALSO make sure you buy it from a local shop if possible. Fake, mall skate shops like Zumiez and CCS are killing local shops and skateboarding.
The #1 rule of buying a skateboard: DO NOT buy a skateboard from Walmart,Target, etc. Rule of thumb is to buy a board that's at least $50. If you have a skate shop in or near your town, I suggest you go there, they will help you with all your problems. As for practicing it will take lots of time to learn tricks. Videos on YouTube help a lot.
