I think playing sports after-school will look good on a college application and teach me time-management skills, and if I work hard and turn out pretty good I can even get a scholarship and I also want to earn a Varsity Letterman jacket.
These are the sports I have been thinking about:
-Tennis
-Water Polo
-Wrestling
-Track and Field (Shot Put)

I am worried I might not be able to catch up, there are kids that start practicing at a few months of age.
I am very undecided.
In a similar situation I chose wrestling because it sounded badass. And it was. I really enjoyed it and it taught me self discipline and gave me more confidence. My second year I got my varsity letter and it was a great achievement I worked for. And prior to this I didn't play ANY sports aside from recreational stuff like XC skiing and hiking and stuff. Just go ahead and try, you'll be uncomfortable and mentally beat down, but you'll also see that everyday life is easier and have a tenacity to accomplish whatever you want. And besides, it's really cool to participate in the most physically demanding sport there is.
If you are strong, Shot put would be the easiest to learn from scratch. It takes years to be good in the other 3 sports. I recommend you just choose a sport you like and can enjoy for life that why I play tennis.
Wrestling would be a good option, allot of people don't start wrestling until middle school and high school, plus there is a place for everyone of all shapes and sizes.
Just try out. The worst that can happen is you don't make the team. PLus you might make new friends and it'll be fun!
