Edit: The scores were extremely close after the short program. Yuna Kim could have skated a more technically difficult set of jumps and other skills in the long program in order to differentiate herself but she chose not to.
i think it was fair. Yes, Yuna was elegant as always, however, Adelina's programme was more difficult and she had one more jump even though she made a slight mistake. I also think she skated with more passion. Yuna was probably tired, she looked worn out. Whatever your opinion, hey both skated well and did their job. Scoring was left to the judges. What the judges see on their screen, is different from what the audience see because they see all mistakes etc. The only question is whether they are too generous sometimes, but there is more than one judge and they are from different countries, so i think it was fair. Also, the difference was 5 points or so, so there is less controversy if it was for example 2 points or less. It would always be controversial in sport. Everyone wants their favourite skater to win. It's up to the judges then....
I heard from one of the analysts that Yuna Kim showed fatigue towards the end and that was the difference. Of course I couldn't tell. However, I actually thought that Italian lady Carolina Kostner should have won the gold.
It's Yuna time! | Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics
I was also watching the Olympics and disagreed on the medal winner!
So, the Russian girl was good, but Yuna Kim showed perfection. Her body movements were soft yet flexible and queen-like. The russian girl was also really good with her fancy movements, but he skill could still not reach Yuna's
Well here is what I think...
There were a lot of Rusian and Rusia hasn't had their gold medal yet, so maybe they exaggerated a little on their athlete's scores to make them win.
But thats just my thoughts >-<
This is the latest example of the corruption in judging in skating. There is no doubt this was political and the best skater did not win.
In the past judges have been banned for bad decisions that were obviously based on things other than performance.
Perhaps enough people will protest that these judges will no longer be working in international skating.
I liked Yuna Kim routine better
The truth is, they both made mistakes, Yuna Kim you could not see.
The Italian Girl was prefect, got much lower numbers than both.
They said Adalina did more triples.
That should not be the reason to win.
My favorite was Carolina, she was the only one that skated without an mistake, she lost over 7 points.
I think both Yuna and Adalina got higher than they should. Adalina made a mistake everyone saw, no clue how she got her highest with an mistake
The person that won gold for women's figure skating was this Russian girl and i do not like the Russians for idk reason, so the Russian girl beat Kim Yuna!!! And Kim Yuna is my all time favorite!!! The Russian girl had more of a kinda difficult routine than Kim but I think Kim deserve the gold she had a more graceful routine and it was her LAST Olympics!! So who do you think was better? Who should've won gold or not?
