Even in good shape- $400 sounds like a Gander Mountain special. They are HIGH on used guns.....and the P85 is an old one that wasn't popular.
I agree with others here- for $400 you are into used M&P, Glock, XD territory.
Now, if you are looking for a full size DA/SA hammer fired gun- Look at the Bersa Pro- $391 at Bud's, ships free to your FFL- mine charges $20.

I'm also in agreement, that's at least a $100 to high. I will also say after spending some time behind one ... I'd look for something else. At $400 you are into used versions of any of the top name polymer guns and into used versions of something like the Beretta 92 or the CZ 75 and clones. While rugged and reliable the Ruger has a horrible paddle trigger and a terrible double push mag release that is worse than any heel release.
At the $300 or less point ... I'd still look for something like a Gen 3 S&W semiautomatic. One of the 59 or 69 series. They are a somewhat underrated pistol and definitely better shooting than the Ruger in my hands. There are reasons not to like them, Lime Green has made legitimate points about S&W in general in the past, but I'd still take one over a Ruger.

I have a Ruger P94 .40 caliber and paid exactly $300 for it through private sale. Others are right about the price. Not a popular pistol but I have an attraction for unpopular items and discover that their bad rap is often BS. If you want a rugged, reliable, and shoot where you point it then that`s what the P95 is. $400 is high for my area but may be in line other areas.
Yeah, you said P95 9mm and I`m comparing to P94 .40 but they`re very close on price and performance.
He's dreaming.
$285 tops. The Roger 85 series is a documented brick.
$400 gets you into police trade Glock and Sig territory
The 95 is a variation on the theme.... $285.
Learn the market and shop wisely
That is a great deal for the guy selling it. I have had bad luck with Ruger centerfire pistols, you could not give that gun to me.
The guy selling it would be quite happy wit that price!
Here's the same package for $299 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte...
No, it is not a fair price. Renegotiate or walk away.
That doesn't seem like a bad price, but it depends on the usage and care from the original owner. Also, make sure that it is legal and has not been used in any illegal activities. You should be able to google the ATF website and you can enter the serial numbers to make sure the registration is clean and who it belongs to. Good luck.
