Minimum age requirement for female olympic gymnast?

I thought the minimum age was 16 but yesterday I saw a 15 year old on beam. It wasn't USA, I think it was Great Britain(red uniform?). What is the minimum age requirement.

They may compete at 15 but must turn 16 before the end of the calendar year. According to Time, "Under Olympic regulations, female gymnasts must turn 16 years old during the year of competition."

You have to turn 16 in the calendar year of the Olympic Games (NOT during the Olympics themselves!).

So if your 16th birthday was 31 December 2012, you would still be allowed to go to London, but if it was 1 January, you would not be.

You have to be at least 15, but if you are 15 you must turn 16 during the Olympics!

16

You have to be in your sixteenth year; that's why there's a few 15 year olds in London. There have been 13 and 14 year olds competing in the OG in the past, but now the rules prohibit it.

I think Dominique Moceanu (American Gymnast in 1997 or so) was 13.

That's probably the youngest
