you know what is funny in the in the 1940's to the 1960's there were no children in karate or kung fu,
now a days you get these mma fanboys who say its only fr children,
that makes them sound really immature and makes them sound like they know absolutely nothing about martial arts
btw taya dits and kw are the same account s of course they agree on everything.
All martial arts were created for adults originally, only mma fanboys with no martial arts background think other wise
karate was specifically created for adults to defend themselves both on and off the battle field and so was most kung fu, but mma fanboys know nothing about this fact.
There is no best style.
They will all work as long as you train right and have a good instructor.
Your size, body type and sex have nothing to do with the style you want to choose. People that think that your size and body type determine the style know little to nothing about martial arts
styles are made to adapt to your body type
Most people will tell you there style is the best or they heard such and such is a great style,
The style is not important, what matters is how good your instructor is and how you train. The style is secondary, they all have there pro's and con's there are no superior styles.
If you have an instructor that can’t teach you how to fight, regardless of the style, what good would it do you?
Choose a school with a good instructor in the end that’s all that matters, that and how you train.
Its the person that has the ability to fight not the style
Are you looking for self defense? Exercise? Both? It is a personal choice and I would recommend you consult with different martial arts teachers to get a feel for their teaching style. They as people and how they teach are more important than the style itself, be it karate, kung fu, what have you. If, however, you are looking to defend yourself easily and quickly, then I will post an article in the source box below for you to take a look at. It breaks it down real simple for you.
I would choose something that an mma gym offers. Western boxing, Thai boxing, American kickboxing, judo, wrestling, jj.
Those are the most common. If you are only choosing one art you have to choose either striking or grappling. Striking favors people with speed and range. Grappling favors those with a more husky build and when you are shorter can hold positions tighter and fill in the gaps. This doesn't mean you should choose something based only on your build. It just helps you pick something that would more naturally suit you.
I have to agree with KW here. Belts really don't mean $hit. Belts are only good for holding up your pants. As far as where to train that is your problem. This is a world wide forum and I don't even live on your continent. If I'm going to help you find something I'll use google. You can do that for yourself.
I second what Keyboard Warrior said. If you can find an MMA, BJJ, Wrestling, Judo, Boxing, Muay Thai, or Kickboxing school then you'll be well off for sure.
MMA.
I did martial arts when I was younger and only made it a few belts until my parents decided to take me out of it, I think it was money issues, but I want to learn now from someone good. I'm 20 yrs old now and I live in Westerville ohio(near Columbus) does anyone have any recommendations? It could be any form of martial arts.
