I cant afford cheerleading!?

Okay...

I usually cheer for my school every year but these last two years have been hell. Im a self taught cheerleader. From age 7. Pulled my bow and arrow by myself at 11. Backhandspring at 12. I can do all flyer moves. My arm strength isnt that good. Ive cheered since 5th grade im a freshman now. Cheer is usually about 1500$ a year for me. But my dad and stepmom fought alot. My dad originally we lived in a two story house. But we moved in with my stepmom and now im in a duplex. First time ever. Im ashamed to tell my friends where i live. My dad pays all the bills my step moms a little b*tch that buys herself a new coach bag every week.My dad gets child support and paychecks. It never goes to me. He never gives me money to get new clothes or anything. Some odd reason he cant pay for cheer anymore? Im tired of hanging with cheerleaders and hearing about their routines and im kind of the out cast now. Cheer was the only sport i payed attention in and my depression never took over me. Since ive been out of cheer i get depressed easily and im shy and quiet now. i even brought my habit back by self harming at times. Not cause of cheer cause im always brought down or made fun of. Anyways the coach wants me to try out since there are 2 spots open. .. I really miss cheer. :/ how do i tell them im not financially stable?

It's okay! I'm in the same thing right now! But I'm going in pre competitive but see if you could get a job at sub way or some place like that and do stuff like car washes. Or go to a place that will sponsor you a few hundred to do your sport. Good luck hope things work out! X

I would definitely talk to your coach. Tell him/her that you really want to do cheer, but your dad doesn't have the money anymore. Ask if you can do fundraiser, or if your cheer gym can sponsor you as an athlete, and give you a year for no or very little price. Don't be afraid to ask. I am in the same position that you are in. I was too afraid to ask, because I thought I would be rejected. I only got the nerve to do it after the season started, and by then there were no spots for me.

You can also look up sports scholarships or sports sponsors on google, there are a bunch of sites and stores that can help you. I know for one, that ***** Sporting Goods sponsors people. You could also try to babysit, petsit, mow lawns (it's not too exciting, but it pays and it will give you muscle for cheer).

I wish you good luck, because I'm going through the same thing you are. If you ever want to talk about cheer, or need any tumbling or stunting advice, email me at cass.vale24680@yahoo.com. I will answer.

Good Luck! I hope I helped!

Just be honest and open with the coach. Maybe you can convince the coach to start having carwashes, bake sales, etc. to help raise money so you can cheer. I know a girl who had a hard time affording it but the fundraisers for the team cut prices in over a half! The shoes alone are around $300 a pair so when we did fundraisers it made our pay total only $40 to $50 on the shoes! I'm sure they can help out. I wish you the best of luck!

Talk to your coach about it in private or try and get some pocket money by doing bake sales, washing cars, newspaper round, cutting peoples lawns hope I helped :)

Talk to your coach alone, and explain to her that you'd love to do it and tell her what you just said in your question. There might be a way that they can let you cheer for free.

Well for one, your dad doesnt HAVE to pay for your cheerleading but i guess he doesnt want to anymore. And tell them that you cant. Youre a freshman. Youre young. You shouldnt self harm
