You really need to go visit any TKD schools in your area. That is the only way you will find a good Dojang. There are at least 75 different styles of TKD. Then there are many TKD organizations. A few are not teaching what you are looking for. you are more likely to find why you are looking for in a small group instead of a large school in a mall or shopping center. Those schools are usually in business more to make money than to teach the original art. As such they water down training because most people would not, or could not go through what the real training involves. to stay in business and make money many schools end up teaching mostly children and promoting them often even thought they do not have the skills that they should have to be promoted. TKD gets a lot of negative publicity due to the high percentage of McDojang teaching crap and calling it TKD. But the same problem is present in all martial arts styles and in the MMA and Krav Maga schools. In all cases, the only way to be sure you have a legitimate schools is to do your own research and find out what the school teaches and how. ANY place that has children wearing black belt, sell black belt contracts, or any long term contracts should be avoided at all costs.

Good luck with that, finding an authentic TKD school was a mission I set long ago after I have been falsely taught TKD when I was younger. Depending on your area it may not be too hard to find. I can now easily tell if an instructor's a phony or not.
Avoid places that are an organization except ITF. Go with ITF.
In what area? Be specific.
Hi
Myself and a friend have been looking to get involved in Taekwon do for a long time but never really invested the time to look for something, but now after years we want to do so. But I know that there are alot of so called "authentic" Dojo's but really only teaching moves rather than the real macoy skills of the asian art form.
Does anybody know of any instructors in the canturbury region that specialise in the taekwon do art and teach it.
Thanks
