I think it takes a while to be forgotten. I still remember members of the 2008 team even though now Ill think more about the recent team. This years team also has the title of "Fab 5" so no doubt we'll be hearing that name for many Olympics to come. And I have to put in I'll remember Aly and Jordan more than Gabby.
But the men's team I imagine will be forgotten faster than the woman's, since they didn't get any medals yet.
She'll be forgotten a month or two after the olympics are over. She'll be remembered for awhile because she will get sponsorships and start appearing on commercials kind of like Apollo Ono did a few years back. After the commercials stop airing...nobody will remember until the next time a major sporting event happens.
after 1 year
2009-2012 how many people cared about Shawn Johnson, Nastia lukin and Alicia Sacremone
this is probably the Fab 5's last olympics
they'll be replaced by a new group in 2016
It really depends on how the mass media process them. I still remember Shawn Johnson from 2008, even tho she retired in July this year (after ripping her knee out in 2010 skiing - doh!!). I remember her because the jack-asses in the US media decided to poke fun at this incredible athlete who represented her country very successfully by calling her a rodent.
Gymnastic is north asian/eastern european dominate event. Sorry yank.
It seems like to me that the women gymnasts get famous during the few months leading to olympics then are forgotten about a month or two after the olympics, do you think the "Fab5" except Gabby will be forgotten? just wondering other peoples opinions! God bless the USA
