Competitive cheerleading is a sport. But it's not cheerleading. They don't cheer for anyone; they just perform a routine and get a score. School/sideline cheerleading is REAL cheerleading; but if it's not being done competitively, it is not a sport.
Cheerleading IS a sport. We do not just shake around and move our arms! We do awesome moves in our cheers/chants, we come up with some intense dances that leave us breathless at the end, and we do stunts-- Which requires tons of energy from the backs, bases, and flyers. If one part of the stunt does bad, the stunt falls down. And I am talking about school cheerleading. My team doesn't do competitions. We are a sport. I hope I didn't sound mean.. I wasn't trying to be.. I'm just really heated about this subject.. Sorry.
Well that's your opinion...many school squads do tumble and tumbling is a sport. Do you ever see a Swimmer, football player,or any other sport tumble? No. Cheerleading can be very hard and is just as much of a sport as any other activity.
Have you watched international cheerleading tournaments? Those abs don't lie.
I don't think so either, but its a good workout.
