They're showing less skin than you are in a swimsuit. They have a skirt that covers or at least acts as a sheer curtain over their crotch, so the only time you even get a plain view is on jumps and spins.
Anyways, they're used to it. It's the standard costuming for the sport, so they wear dresses (for the most part) from beginner all the way up to the Olympic/elite stage. They're wearing tights as well, so it's basically impossible for them to have a cameltoe and swimmers, dancers and gymnasts get wedgies just like skaters do. That's like asking a professional ballerina if they're worried about people looking at their crotch when they're doing an arabesque en pointe. No one is really paying attention and the athlete is more concerned about just landing the jump.
I always wondered why they had to do that too. However that is the one thing I look forward to about figure skating too! The moment when skaters raise their leg high in the air!
Maybe they wear more layers than we think or they do some sort of tuck or they just get use to it most of them have been doing this their whole life
They're wearing flesh colored tights under their costumes. Unlike swimmers...
How do the girls do it? I was athletic and liked skating but just couldn't stand opening my legs in those outfits with people staring at me. I love watching them but can't imagine how the can stand it.
I went into swimming.
