Because cheerleading involves physical skill and is competitive in nature it is a sport - end of argument.
When I was a cop, I used to work the local highschool cheerleading competitions. Those girls have serious skill to do what they do. Its not all about shaking your butt at games. What people see at football games is not what cheerleaders do competitively. Their routines can be quite sophisticated and require lots of stamina and strength.
I am in pretty good shape and I could never do what they do. That said, I don't think Cheerleading would ever make an Olympic sport. Most of the technical stuff they do is essentially gymnastics, we already have that. I just don't think its widespread enough to make it.
Personally, I find professional cheerleading to be boring. Don't believe me then just watch it on ESPN. You get like a 1 minute routine followed by 10 minutes of some has been cheerleader commenting on what they did right or wrong. It takes all the fun out of it
Well the only part about cheerleading that is really a sport is the gymnastics, and that's already in the olympics. And don't be all defensive about how cheer is a sport, because I was a cheerleader too and I know how that feels. But really, standing on sidelines and yelling things isn't really a sport. But the flips and all that stuff is. So maybe, but I think the olympics is all set with the gymnastics.
Because it's not a sport. And very few countries actually do cheerleaders, it's mostly Canada and the US that have cheerleaders
The stunt work is already made much more difficult in gymnastics, and dancing isn't a sport
How can cheerleading be considered a sport? If it is, then you might as well add ballet dancing and square dancing to the Olympics.
It's bad enough that rhythm gymnastics is in the Olympics.
Just because something takes physical effort, doesn't make it a sport
You could have them compete at the same time as other events, they would cheer on each of their own countries. Whoever brings the most pep wins
Hard to take it serious like olympics because all it is is a bunch of snot nosed tramps showing their naked cracks to a crowd of people. I'd hardly call that a sport.
Definitely, I think it has potential but not many countries have competetive cheerleading.
No, I don't think so. It does not require the skill of all the other olympic games.
Possibly. Chance leans more to no
Maybe? I don't really know. Keep your head up... It could be.
As far as i know cheerleading is played in many countries is it possible
Not while I'm living..
equestrian and badminton are.. why stop there?
probably not, but i would vote for it ;-)
Omg NO!!!
