why do people watch sports?

its a waste of time, their boring, their useless, athletes get paid too much money to do something that is not important. Even the dude workin at mcdonalds has a more important job than an athlete

People watch them for different reasons. Most of the people I know are avid (American) football fans but they don't even understand the game or pay attention to it much while it's happening. They like football because it gives them a reason to spend all day drinking and being rowdy with their friends like they're all back in college. It's a social thing for a lot of people and has little to do with the sport. It could be baseball or hockey or tennis, doesn't matter.

As for other reasons I can think of, maybe they're competition oriented? Maybe they enjoy playing the game themselves and like to watch the pros "do it right?" For me, I like baseball because its all about strategy and chance. In baseball, you never know what will happen. One minute, the game could be plodding along then suddenly a batter nails a double past 2nd and decides he's gonna make a dash for 3rd. It keeps you on your toes, analyzing the players' strengths and weaknesses, trying to figure out the other team's strategy and counter it with your own. It's like chess or war, it requires both patience and split-second decision making, and I like that.

As for the salaries they pay these players.... don't even get me started. That's a debate that started in the 1920's and will never end. For the record though, I agree with the old timers. You should pay them, but not in amounts that rival the entire gross domestic product of small nations. I mean c'mon...

hold up. do you play a sport? Once your one of the top 300 basketball players in the world then talk to me.

So they don't have to put up with reality tv shows.

You are a total idiot!
