Skating for a year and only learning a toe loop? No. Teaching yourself? Absolutely not.
No. It is TOO LATE! The latest any skater started and went to the Olympics was Johnny Weir at 12. And he was so super-freakishly talented that he was landing an Axel in his second week. Not struggling to teach himself a toeloop after a year. Heck, I'm no talent, and I landed my toe loop in five minutes after being shown how, three months after I started skating.
I'm not going to give you any pretty fluffy bullsh*t. I know you won't choose my answer because it's not a fluffy rubbish one that says "u can do enything~ if u dreeeeeeem!". But it's the truth, it's honest, and it's REAL.
And STOP TEACHING YOURSELF. You are inevitably teaching yourself really poor technique, bad habit, and setting yourself up for injury.
I know nothing about ice skating but I think you could do it if you really worked for it! One class a week however is not enough to become one of the best. Ask your coach if there are any other classes you can go to or look to see if there is another skating club offering more.
GOOD LUCK :D
Don't listen to 'K' , if that's your dream then theres nothing to say you cant do it.
I'm currently 14 years old and my dream is to become an Olympic Figure Skater! I have been attending Figure Skating lessons for approximately a year and i am in the process of completing my Level 10 Skate UK Awards. I have a lesson once a week but i always go and practise as i am so desperate to succeed. I have recently been practising harder spins and jumps such as the Beillmann and Toe Loop but teaching my self. I also practise my jumps and flexibility at home everyday to help me with my Beillmann.
Do you think i have a chance? Figure Skating means the world to me and i would live on the ice if i could!
