Are the Olympics a sport?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
The Olympics is an event that has sports in it so technically its not a sport

It is not a stupid question. It is a collection of individual sports, that are held in a festival, involving many countries, where the greatest athletes in each sport compete against other great athletes from other countries.

In my opinion, a Gold Medal Winner is the truest definition of a World Champion.

Let me give you an example.

Last year, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series.

They have been referred to as the World Champion Red Sox.

But who did they beat? Only other American teams.

Japan, has professional baseball, and I would argue that their best players are as good as, or better then ours.

In the World Baseball Classic involving the best players, Japan has always finished

ahead of the US.

The olympics is an event, not a sport ._.

the Olympics is a sporting event that has different sports in it! its basically like a giant tournament of different sports

No. The Olympics is an event.

This might sound like very stupid question, but me and my friend are having a debate about the Olympics. Are they a sport? We obviously know they are a collection of sports, but is it classed as a sport?
