Why am I so bad at sports?

I don't understand it!

I'm a 14 year old girl. I literally cannot do ANY sport that involves throwing, catching, kicking, or any physical contact with an object.

The only sports I can do are non-strategical sports, like cross country, track and field, and skiing. I'm pretty good at those. But soccer? Basketball? Forget it!

Once, on a cruise, there was family dodgeball. FAMILY dodgeball. You know how many people I got out? 0. Every time I threw the ball, it never hit anyone. Hell, 7 year olds got more people out than me.

One time, I went bowling without bumpers. The first time I got a strike. But literally, EVERY OTHER TIME, I got 0. So my ending score was 44.

To this day, there is not one Kan Jam that didn't involve me yelling or crying, that's how frustrated and bad I am. I actually just quit a game in the middle of it. I will never be able to throw a frisbee, or hit one into the bowl. My family even gets mad and laughs/yells at me. When I throw it, it swerves yards away from the can.

When I play ladder ball, It doesn't even hit the ladder. It just goes right under.

When I play ping pong, I always lose. Always.

Almost every game I've played ends in crying. It sounds immature, but it's like…all I want to do is fit in with my family. I do everything wrong. They're graceful and good at everything. And when I fail, it's like "Oh wow, there's another thing I'm bad at. Fantastic."

So, why does this happen? I'm not out of shape. Can anyone relate?

I can totally relate to you. There is a sport out there for you, there is one for all of us. I've had my fair share of stress trying out many different sports. Track, archery, soccer, basketball, and I just tarted horseback riding which I really love. I'm not sure to tell weather or not I'm so good at it yet, though. Do you like animals? And do you have physical strength? If so, I think you should try horseback riding. It's scary, very scary indeed if which I've also had my share of hospital visits due to these animals, but still it's an amazing thing that I will not give up on. If you like animals and have some strength which the sport takes, I think you should really try it. If that doesn't work out, please some stress. There is something out there meant for everybody. Yours might not even be a sport, maybe you're meant to be a singer, model, designer there are endless things you can try, just don't stop trying!

You need to think positive. I know it might sound stupid. I was once in a baseball game (an organized league) and everytime I went up I thought negative like I'm going to strike out and don't strike out don't strike out. When I thought like that I struck out horribly. Then the last time I went up and said I'm going to kill this ball and guess what I got a double. Also if you think your parents/family is hard on you, have a serious conversation with them telling them you try but you just can't do it (if that's the case). When I struck out my coach was har on me which scared me to strike out or make a mistake which is why I thought negative. Tell your family to be supportive!

What you need to do is focus on one sport at a time and practice and practice and practice at every chance you get. That is the only way to become good if your not naturally good at a certain sport. My best sports are Hockey, Swimming, and Running I was pretty much naturally good at them and enjoy them and the more I do them the more I get better. All other sports I hate so that is why I am bad at them.

Sometimes you could be afraid to play a sport that would involve kicking, throwing or using a stick for hockey but when you think of yourself and ignore everyone around and say if it was soccer just focuse on the ball and get to the goal

hi,

firstly no one can ever perform good in one go.. you need to practice and improve so no problem, just take a game u really like and start practicing it.

if still you cant see any improvement try other games like chess, video games *_* etc. or try so simple outdoor activities like skateboarding, wave boarding cycling, gymnastics etc.

it just cant be that u are not good at anything...just cheer up girl..!!!
