Weight lifting at young age?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
So I'm 13 years old and I love going gym , and I want to build a little muscle , however I have heard that weights can stunt growth, others say they can't but I don't want to take the risk. But I heard that chin ups , pull ups, press ups can build muscle without stunning growth , is this true

Ok that guy is an idiot. It can if you start to early. Jus do light weight with a lot of reps. And like you said, the body weight workouts. Go for it man. That's awsome at a young age. 13 is a perfect age to start

sit ups, crunches build muscles without stunning growth i know that because i do rhythmic gymnastics and we always do these exercises and im 13 too.

pull ups makes you taller

press ups just build muscles

gd luck

For about the hundredth time... Weightlifting does not "stunt your growth". That's a silly old wive's tale that's held on since the 1900s it's nonsense.

No, lifting weights won't stun your growth, anyone who says that is an idiot who doesn't know what they're talking about.

You either gain muscle, gain fat, lose muscle, or lose fat. Those are the only effects of exercise and not exercising. Your height has absolutely nothing to do with it.

It can be a bit unhealthy going to the gym at such a young age maybe wait until your 16 but for now push ups and a stuff like are fine.

Wait there kiddo! better go to play and enjoy your children's life, you can't and you must not being doing those things yet, you still have a lot of time to grow up and be a man, now, you're a child. Believe me.
