Beijing's opening ceremony was better than London's however, the actually games, stories of athletes and overall quality of London's 2012 games "may" have matched Beijing's 2008 games.

Every country is different and they have something different to share in there opening ceremonies; this may alter the context and quality of the ceremony however, good solid Olympic games can happen in any country regardless of the opening ceremony.
In the end....London was "London" and the quality of their games were very solid!

Seriously! Beijing was more tasteful. Though there were a lot of people taking part, you only saw the final picture. Here it was all nylon, polyester and noise. Barring some elements that were good, Beijing was far better. Though I liked Sydney best and even Athens was simple and good.
