Want to be a cheerleader, advice?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
I am going to be a freshman in high school and really want to be a cheerleader. I have no experience. Sort of out of shape. Any advice on diets and stretches to get prepared for tryouts? And also any other tips you have. THANKS!!

Diets are not necessary for cheer. Your weight does not matter, what matters is that you are in shape. Still eat healthy, but don't feel the need to count every calorie or do a crazy cleanse. To prepare for tryouts practice making your motions sharp, this is one of the most important things. Also stretch for at least half an hour every day, there are many different stretching routines on the internet that will work. Practice your jumps every day, and if you have ankle weights use those. Once you do them without the ankle weights they will be easier and better. Focus more on the technique of your jump than the actual height. Coaches would rather see a clean okay jump than a sloppy high one. Also make sure to be confident. If you believe in yourself you can do anything.
