Thoughts of London 2012 Olympic games - best ever?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
No - Sydney 2000 was

I am normally not all that bothered about the Olympics but this year with it being a home Olympics for us Brits i have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and of course team GB has done the country proud. It is certainly the best Olympics that i can remember , and i have seen a few , not sure how people from other Nations might think but i think most honest people would have to admit that the Brits have done a bloody good job and have done the country proud.

I agree it was a Great Games But best ever i was part of the Sydney games as a Volunteer

and that was called the Best ever one of the Reasons we made a profit the Public Purse was Not Out Of Pocket

I would need to read all the reports before making any Best reports the City that i was Born In very disappointing and as for London airport Heath row

Got of a BA from Berlin in July onto the Tarmac in the Rain took a Bus to a Holding area 15 Minutes got on another Bus to a terminal Building that did NOT list My Flight had to find an Official who sent me to a desk who Made a Phone call 20 Minutes later found out i was leaving form the last Docking platform on the Outskirts of a new Terminal building and I was Traveling on a British Airline Aircraft

the it Not even close to mediocre let alone best

when I arrived In berlin expecting the New Brandenburg airport to be Open the First thing i was told was SORRY from the officials in Berlin but in London there was No sorry because this was standard practice

at least going By train to Dundee By train was totally efficient I will be doing that again

i Now have to Research the Best Service for a Veteran using Heathrow

I have been told it could be quicker to fly into Paris and get the Train to London

By Eurostar it takes just over 2 hours from London to Paris and prices start from £69 return.

and a single Taxi fare was 30 pounds and 2.5 hrs from Queensway london to terminal 1

so that was Far from best in relation to Transport where Sydney's was Magnificent

I will need to be told that London Airport actually works for the Passenger and Not for the People of London before the london games comes any closer than Good to Very good

I know i was at Both Sydney 2000 and London 2012

Maybe for us Brits it was certainly the best ever as we racked up more medals than we have in a century. Also i have never heard crowds like that at any other Olympics,i am surprised the roof never came off the velodrome they were so loud.I am proud to be British but i afraid the Olympics wont save society. Its still full of morons.

Been there and in Peking and in Sydney, but the athmosphere in London and the friendliness of the volunteers and people in the streets was amazing. The amount of British medals certainly helped to get the Brits on higher grounds. Best Olympics ever without any doubt in my opinion !

Honestly i miss London Olympics :'( i feel so sad that its over now.

i have seen whole Olympic from opening ceremony to closing ceremony and now i miss it a lot.

I think it was A LOT of cries that London would fail before it even started!!! And London did AWESOME!! I liked it, lots of good story lines and it was all just fun! I miss the games already!!

No, Beijing was better even though i live in East London. The difference is I got to enjoy it more live as it was only 10 minutes away from my house. However, Beijing looked much more historical and traditional.

They were exciting games and London put on a good show. But best ever? Come on, dude!

I admire your patriotism but it has thrown you into a, shall we say, "fog?" Congratulations to GB!

I didn't follow it much since my country Greece didn't perform well and Canada was mediocre country. As usual the U.S finished first

These olympics have by far been the greatest in my opinion. Team GB has made every Brit proud, it's made me proud to be British and what a show we can put on in the greatest city in the world. I will never forget London 2012 for as long as I live and i'm so pleased to say I have witnessed? it in my lifetime. Every single athlete has done amazing. It's sad that it has to come to an end, the atmosphere around Britain has been amazing. Great Britain/London has shown the world what we can do. Greatest ever olympics? Greatest city? Fantastic opening/closing ceremony on British culture. That's why we are called GREAT Britain! What is everyones thoughts on the Olympics we have just had?

See? If an American had said that ...
