Because their citizens like the sport and are willing to pay to watch (and support the team), and it gets the publicity on TV, kids learned good moves and emulate them, they became better and better... thus they are crushing the rest in that sport..... you could either train and assemble a good team to challenge them (some teams succeeded before) or fight for silver.... it is not easy to even be the 6th ranked team.....China has been trying for many years without success.....Serbia , Croatia and Greece beat them in the 2010 Youth Olympic..... Anyway after-all Olympic is about playing at your best against the best in the world in a friendly manner...... For fans like us, it is about seeing the best in action (and seeing your country players/team win).....it doesn't matter to me this time since seeing the best in action is also a reward.....
Well the U.S. did blow it in '04, but yea for the most part that's how it is. They've talked about changing it to make it similar to how men's football is done with U-23 teams. Which would probably balance the competition better, but then you know it's not the very top tier competition.
Go up against a bunch of tall black professional NBA players is a form of cheating. Of course, the americnas will do anything to bring more medals in if they can beat the chinese.
Go USA!
I realize it's about having the best athletes in the world but the USA is just obliterating everyone they go up against. In both Men's and Women's Basketball.
