Learning Martial arts?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
Use Google to see if any churches offer martial arts classes for free, or if any individuals teach for free. If there is a large martial arts organization near you, call them and ask if they have any teachers who run a class or a club for free.

Email local teachers and ask if they know anyone who teaches for free.

While not free, community centers often offer classes for a very low cost.

I feel for you...

Cecil and Kieran had some good ideas.

Try to get a part time job like a paperound or something like that. Most clubs let you watch for free so perhaps you could try learning visually...

I don't know man, this is a tough one. You could come to an agreement with the sensei maybe, for example you help pack up the mats or clean the dojo in exchange for free lessons...

Hope it works out for you, good luck.

Personally I would advise against watching Youtube videos. Whilst it seems like a good idea, you can never be sure whether you're doing the move right because you're not getting feedback. My suggestion would be to either ask a friend who does it, or make friends with someone who does martial arts, preferably someone experienced. That way, if they teach you, they can watch your movements and correct you if needed.

Do you have any jobs you can do to earn some money yourself?

After school / vacation jobs go ask around.

Go watch some live lessons in a dojo and eventually tell the sensei of your problem.

Maybe you have a chance that he takes you in anyway ( or with a discount ) you never know.

you can actually watch on youtube and search for any kinds of martial arts you prefer.
