If I'm honest, that is extremely slow. If you told me you did it in 14 minutes I would assume you were 50 pounds overweight. I do about a 6:30 mile and I'm only a lifter not some running freak, I sprint very very well though. The only way to get better is to run a mile or more a day to condition yourself. You should be down to around 9 or 10 minutes by the school year unless you actually are overweight. If that's the case you need to focus on losing weight.
To be honest that isn't a good time? When I was 13 I was running 1.5 miles in 11 minutes. Just run a lot more everytime you run you want to increase your speed. Push yourself to do better and you will be good remember it's all in the mind.
Well. The average persons mile is about 8 minutes. Just run everyday, everywhere. Run more than a mile at a time. If you run just one mile everyday, it'll take forever to get better.
That is terribly slow. I run my mile in 8 min 30 sec. I only lift weights and run when I'm doing P.T. for JROTC at my high school. Just run more and promise me you will get better. Pace yourself though.
