No it's completely safe if you just want to ride it to school and back. I'm a girl so take that into consideration. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT LET UR PARENTS GET U A CRAPPY BOARD FROM WALMART OR SOMETHING! They break so easily and are so cheap. Have them take you to a professional skate shop or Tillys. I Suggest getting a pennyboard instead of a skateboard if you are going to just cruise with it, it's in the 100 dollar range but it's totally worth it. It's better than buying 12 walmart skateboards that will break the next day. And those cheap skateboards are so dangerous.. Anyway I haven't been riding for a long time, maybe 6 months at the most. I haven't fallen once, it's mostly cause I have amazing balance but either way it's not easy to fall off. The only time I've ALMOST fallen is when I tried going down a super super steep hill and I got some speed wobble. I ride it home from school with my backpack on, and having it off while riding doesn't make much of a difference. Tell your parents there's nothing to worry about, you'll be fine ;) (I'm 14 by the way)
Btw: I don't even wear protection. Helmets or knee pads or anything cause it's that safe. And if Ur parents still say no tell them this true fact "60% of skateboarding injuries occur with children under the age of 15, however, 91.5% of them get injuries from attempting tricks." And if your a beginner, don't just jump on and think you'll be pro the first time. I'm just a natural, but everybody is different. Make sure you know what your doing before you go out with it! hope I helped c:
Tell me what they say ^_^
Skateboarding can be dangerous, but nowhere near as dangerous as crossing the road.
You would be fine carrying a backpack of your school books.
Yes, you may get hurt, but the chances of that are small.
In life it's worth taking some small risks. I hope you get a skateboard. Good luck.
Yes. I have been skateboarding for about 4 years now and I have had multiple sprains, bruises, and a few broken bones. But as long as you aren't doing tricks I guess you're fine. Just be careful
Tell them you won't need them to drive you to school anymore. They won't need to take you anywhere you want because you will have your own form of transport. If you want to make them feel safe, you could tell them that you will wear jeans a helmet etc. Skateboarding is only dangerous if you don't know the basics. It's quite safe to ride one.
Just cruising to and from school will not be very dangerous. There's always a chance you might fall, but, once you get used to it, it's easy.
Do people still skateboard these days? The craze was years ago. :-)
You do get hurt eventually
