I don't like the sport, and I think you're entirely correct in saying it's there because it fills up the broadcasting hours.
I've got no problems with the skill/athleticism of the game, but the sand seems such an artificial constraint on movement. It's like asking Usain Bolt to run 100m through 6" of treacle. I don't know if there's a two-a-side variant of traditional volleyball, but I'm sure it would be more entertaining that the beach variety.
It's the packaging I dislike most: the bikini bottoms, the cheerleaders, the constant music, the DJ screaming "LONDON MAKE SOME NOISE!". That's what makes it seem very 'unOlympian' to me.
I totally agree. Over rated with very little to cheer for. Its a great sport to play while at the beach with friends. But to honor it as an Olympic sport I guess Men need entertainement, even at the olympics.
Of course it is a true Olympic sport, but only when played by women in very small bikinis.
I'm a disagreement, according to so many agreements up here, beach volleyball is a show rather than a sport. its within the Olympic, illustrates our moral and aesthetic standards being down and down and down and down.
I like beach volleyball. It has different rules than volleyball and I like how it's just 2 people instead of 6.
Yes
Ummm YESSS!! It's the best sport in the olympics.
Yes u don't realize how hard it is till u play it
Yeah but most of the girls have flat butts tho nothing really to look at there : /
or is it just a time-filler for network television using pretty women in bikinis. I feel like a fool watching this...not to mention most countries don't have beaches. They should just raise the California flag during the medal ceremony.
