How to guaruntee a spot on varsity?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
This year is my highschool's first year with a lacrosse team and a lot of people are going out. Our township had a team for a few years, so this is my third year. We have a ton of girls who are trying out, some of which who have played and some haven't.

(By the way, I am NOT trying to sound conceited. It's only my third year playing. I'm comparing myself to the girls who haven't played. I'm a freshman btw.)

-I have a good stick and pretty good stick skills.

-I am fast and have awareness on the field (ex. I just don't stand there looking around, I actually know what to do and how to defend)

-I come to all the preseason workouts and show work ethic-We need to make a 7:30 mile by March 7th and I'm at 7:45, in the top 5 runners of my team

Once again I'm not trying to sound conceited or anything, I know I'm not an amazing player since it's only my third year.

What can I do to show the coach that I should be on varsity? Any specific skills or qualities they value? Thank you!

It is good that you are going to all of the workouts because coaches remember who goes and who stays home. Keep working hard, do not get nervous when evaluation comes around. Make sure your coaches see your talent and play to your best ability to help you stand out in the crowd. Remember, live for the pain.

ok to get a spot on your team you have to show your strengths.you said your fast show the coaches how fast and good with the ball show them that too.i made my soccer team for high school and i broke my toe at tryouts. i didnt go to the doctor till after the season but you get the point i showed my strengths.AND MOST important thing is to stick out do not blend in with the crowed MAKE them remember your name.in a good way.

Watch "varsety blues" the movie & apply what you learned to real life huhu

its real simple play well. if your coaches have the slightest clue what they are doing you will be fine
